MixTogether & Friends

Despite virtually no posting during July, MixTogether & Friends recorded one of its busiest months to date.

This is all due to search engine traffic generated by the criminal cases we are following. The murders of Asha Muneer, Aliza Mirza, Maleha Masud, Nasim Jamil and Saheel Ahmed are all covered on this blog. Other bloggers, notably those with a supposedly ‘Asian’ focus, have not spotted the significance of these cases.

Through search engine traffic we are reaching a unique audience of people from the communities where these crimes have taken place. We are reaching people from the local area of these crimes, and people who knew either the deceased or the accused. This means that MixTogether’s message is penetrating among the non-blogging public, something very few other blogs can say.

We will continue to employ this successful approach to blogging. Thanks as ever to all our readers and commenters.

May was another record-breaking month for MixTogether & Friends.

By far the biggest draws to the site were the posts on Roshonara Choudhary and a link from Ian Dale to our story on Sunny Hundal’s ‘Bhangra Flashmob’ flop.

However, our coverage of cases such as Geeta Aulakh and Maleha Masud is generating consistent search traffic. The best thing about these visitors is that they are not bloggers, but regular members of the public.

Our analysis of these crimes is reaching deep within the communities where they took place.

This has been a record-breaking month on MixTogether & Friends.

The previous record for visitors was in December, and that was driven by a single link from Iain Dale‘s website. This month we have smashed the December figure using only the power of search engines.

We are the only blog that has given any prominence to the stories concerning Aliza Mirza, Maleha Masud and Aamir Siddiqi. These stories- especially the murder of Aliza Mirza- have generated record traffic as our posts have consistently featured on page 1 of Google searches.

MixTogether is making its voice heard. We are now the UK’s leading blog on honour crimes and related social issues, and we will continue to speak out. With a high-profile readership, and press interest now starting to materialise off the back of our blog posts, we are setting the agenda for the next parliament.

December statistics were boosted by a link from Iain Dale, but leaving that aside we have still doubled our visitor numbers since November 2009.
