According to the Ealing Gazette, another man has been arrested for Geeta Aulakh‘s murder:

A 20-year-old was picked up by police in Slough on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. He is currently in custody at a west London police station.

Geeta Aulakh, 28, was found dying from head wounds in Braund Avenue, Greenford. She died in Charing Cross Hospital hours later on November 16.

Her estranged husband and another man are due to appear at the Old Bailey charged with murder on October 18.

[A 4th man] man remains on police bail after being arrested in December on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Sher Singh, the second person arrested, is approximately 18 years old. If another man of 20 has been arrested then this must have been a group attack.

How were these young men corrupted into taking part in such a savage attack on a defenceless woman?

What could possibly be the incentive for young men at the start of their lives to commit this crime?

We are currently getting a lot of visitors looking for information on the trial of Harpreet Aulakh and Sher Singh for the murder of Geeta Aulakh last year.

At the time of Harpreet Aulakh and Sher Singh‘s arrests, the press reported that the trial for Geeta Aulakh‘s murder would begin on 1st March.

The CPS has confirmed to MixTogether & Friends that the date has now been moved back significantly.

There will be a Review Hearing on the 21st May, but the main trial is not scheduled to begin until the 18th of October.

This is a blow for all of us who were hoping for swift justice. However, it is better for the Police and CPS to take the time to form a concrete case that will result in a successful conviction.

We will keep you informed of anything else we find out.

Thanks to the CPS for their help in producing this report.

The husband of mother-of-two Geeta Aulakh who was found dying in a London street with her right hand cut off appeared in court yesterday charged with her murder.

Harpreet Aulakh, 31, of Greenford, was remanded in custody until March 2010 by Feltham magistrates.

His prosecution vindicates all those who have known from the start that this was no random murder. The horriffic nature of Geeta Aulakh‘s death has always carried the vicious hallmarks of ‘honour’ crime.

After the coming verdict in the Tulay Goren case, March 1st 2010 will see the start of justice for Geeta Aulakh.

Before the general election, all political parties will have a chance to set out in detail their plans to tackle the honour or ‘izzat’ system that lies behind both of these murders.

British values dictate that this alien value system be stamped out fast, to prevent yet more criminal behaviour in the name of ‘izzat’.

Teenager charged with murder of woman whose hand was severed – Guardian

A teenager has been charged with the murder of radio station receptionist Geeta Aulakh, 28, who was left dying in the street in north-west London with one of her hands cut off.

Sher Singh, 18, of Wren Avenue, Southall was charged with her murder and will appear at Ealing Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

It is now beyond doubt that this crime has its roots within the Asian community. Wren Avenue is minutes away from Sunrise Radio in Southall.

Anyone who is responsible for corrupting Sher Singh – a boy of 18 – into committing such a horrendous act of violence should also be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Geeta Aulakh was found in Braund Avenue, Greenford, west London, at 1900 GMT on Monday and died a few hours later from her injuries, which included a severed hand and a head wound.

Police are tonight holding six men including Geeta Aulakh‘s ex husband Sunny (Harpreet) Aulakh.

The Telegraph reports:

Geeta Aulakh left to die yards from child minder’s front door.

Friends described her as a “fun-loving girl” who separated from her Indian-born husband Harpreet, known as Sunny, about a year ago. A police source said Mr Aulakh was among six men arrested in connection with her death…

Mrs Aulakh was born in Britain to Punjabi parents, while her estranged husband was born in Punjab.

Her mother Nardesh Shinh, a GPs’ receptionist, described her daughter as “a wonderful person, never a bad word to say, so lively and beautiful”.

“We are just trying to come to terms with what has happened,” she added.

Avtar Lit, Mrs Aulakh’s boss at Sunrise Radio, said she came from a “respectable” family but that the “strong-minded” Geeta married against the wishes of her parents Nardesh and Lakwinder, a warehouse worker.

MixTogether members would like to send sincere condolences to all who mourn Ms Aulakh’s passing.
